What is weird fiction?

Stories that are haunted and dreamlike, often set in the midwest or around the Rust Belt of North America. Magical realism, surreal imagery, and non-standard story structure combine to make a strange yet poignant aesthetic. Things are just a little bit off-kilter, everything is familiar and yet poetically out of place. A road trip through the unknown and often deeply satirical of the human experience.
